Installation & Setup
SpotApps is a cloud-based SaaS platform — there's nothing to install locally. This guide covers how to properly set up SpotApps in your organization.
Requirements
To use SpotApps, you need:
- Google Workspace — Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise, or Education
- Admin access — Super Admin or delegated admin with appropriate permissions
- Modern browser — Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, or Edge 90+
Required Permissions
SpotApps requires specific Google Workspace permissions to function. Here's what each permission is used for:
| Scope | Purpose |
|---|---|
| drive.metadata.readonly | View file names and permissions |
| drive.permissions | Modify file permissions for remediation |
| admin.directory.user.readonly | List organization users |
| admin.directory.domain.readonly | Identify organization domains |
Security Note
SpotApps never accesses file content — only metadata and permissions. Your documents remain private and secure.
Enterprise Setup
For enterprise deployments with additional security requirements:
Domain-Wide Delegation
If your organization requires domain-wide delegation instead of individual OAuth consent:
- Navigate to Google Admin Console → Security → API Controls
- Under Domain-wide delegation, click "Manage Domain Wide Delegation"
- Add the SpotApps service account (provided during setup)
- Add the required OAuth scopes
SSO Integration
SpotApps supports SAML 2.0 SSO integration for enterprise plans. Contact [email protected] for setup assistance.
