Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with SpotApps in under 5 minutes. This guide will walk you through creating your account and running your first security audit.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Google Workspace account (admin access recommended for full features)
  • A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)

Step 1: Create Your Account

Head to app.spotapps.cloud/signup and create your SpotApps account. You can sign up with:

  • Google Workspace account (recommended)
  • Email and password

Tip

For the best experience, sign up with the same Google account you use for your Workspace administration.

Step 2: Connect Google Workspace

After creating your account, you'll be prompted to connect your Google Workspace:

  1. Click "Connect Google Workspace"
  2. Select your admin account in the Google authorization dialog
  3. Review the requested permissions
  4. Click "Allow" to grant access

SpotApps requests only the minimum permissions needed to perform security audits. We never access the content of your files — only metadata and permission information.

Step 3: Run Your First Scan

Once connected, you can run your first security scan:

  1. Navigate to SpotDrive from your dashboard
  2. Click "New Scan"
  3. Select the scope (all files, specific folders, or shared drives)
  4. Click "Start Scan"

Depending on the size of your Drive, scans typically complete in 1-10 minutes. You can continue using the app while the scan runs in the background.

Step 4: Review Results

Once your scan completes, you'll see a dashboard with:

  • Overview stats — Total files, secure files, and files with issues
  • Risk breakdown — Files categorized by risk level
  • Recent findings — The most critical issues requiring attention

Click on any finding to see details and available remediation options.

Step 5: Fix Issues

SpotDrive makes it easy to fix security issues:

  • Individual fixes — Click "Fix" next to any finding
  • Bulk remediation — Select multiple issues and fix them at once
  • Automated policies — Set up rules to prevent future issues (Pro plan)
